Are there hidden experts with the organisation, perhaps not working in their current field or not of the personality that will self promote? How do we develop confidence and trust when validating expertise and knowledge? ....

In 2008 there was an SKM conversation on "tools to validating expertise". What I would like input on is approaches rather tools to assist in developing a program which helps the business identify and validate people's skills and knowledge across a variety of domains. This program would fit within the scope of a Knowledge Transfer program of works.
