Hi everyone, I'm new to SIKM and it's already proving to be a great resource. The ideas surrounding incentives were helpful, which I plan to try at my workplace.

Midwest Knowledge Management Virtual Symposium #conferences

Karla Phlypo

Its been a few years since the Midwest KM community has had a symposium, but this year we are attempting our first virtual gathering.   I am looking for 12 dynamic presenters that would be comfortable in the online environment.

Who should attend:  Those who manage innovation projects and want to improve their understanding and effective uses of knowledge management, innovation practices, social innovation, and the use of collaboration in promoting organizational learning.

Scheduled:

Date: November 14, 2014

Time: 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM EST

Track 1:  Social media, collaboration and the integration of knowledge into innovation

Track 2: Implications of big data on knowledge creation

Track 3: Knowledge Management in Education

And 4 prerecorded interviews related to the future trends in innovation management.

I am also looking for 3 moderators to help facilitate the sessions.  Please contact me through linkedin if you might be interested to participate in this way.  I will provide you with access and training prior to the event.

There will be a general discussion session at the end where all participants will have an opportunity to share what they learned and share any additional insights that were discovered as a result of the sessions.

I will be providing training to any of the presenters that have not used the Electra_Live environment.  In a way, this is also an experiment to see how well this environment might lend itself to conducting virtual conferences.

Please let me know if you are interest in attending or presenting.

Hi Joe

This is a great topic and hosting a conversation is the best way to facilitate learning and innovation. I would have loved to be part of that conversation, but will be in the air at that time.

I look forward to seeing the outputs.

Health care IT vocabularies #request

Jean Graef <jean.graef@...>

Just for fun, I’m taking a graduate course in health care information systems at a local university. For my course project I’d like to create a network diagram with a specific kind of health care consumer at the center and data sources for this person’s health information radiating out. For each data source, I’d like to include influencing factors, such as technologies, legislation, standards, budgetary constraints, professional norms, etc.

I’d like to talk health care professionals to get their perspective on how they generate and use health care data. If anyone on this list has similar interests or knows of relevant recent research, please contact me privately off list.

What do you call what you do? If you don't call it KM. #definition #name

Matt Moore <innotecture@...>

Hi,

Many weeks ago, I asked people what they called their KM programmes. Here is the consolidated list: http://innotecture.com.au/2014/08/26/what-do-you-call/

There are also articles:
- On decision-making (featuring John Bordeaux & David Williams being more interesting than me): http://innotecture.com.au/2014/08/26/individual-decision-making-and-information-management/
- 2 enterprise search case studies (featuring various Swedish and Australian people being more interesting than me): http://innotecture.com.au/2014/08/17/enterprise-search-case-studies/

And some recent posts on metadata and lazy public servants.

If you do post a comment, please do not select an identity such as "toilet stoppage pompano beach high school" or "hcg weight loss vancouver" because you will run the risk of deletion.

Regards,

Matt
