Mr. Ashenafi is A Director for capacity building and knowledge management directorate at the ministry of finance, Ethiopia. He serves as Research and Knowledge Management Director and Principal Consultant at Ethiopian Management Institute, as well as Professor of School of Commerce, Business Administration and Information System Department at Addis Ababa University and assistant professor of College of postgraduate Studies of Gage University College.
Ashenafi received Bachelor’s degrees from Haramaya University, the then Alemaya University in Business Management, and Master’s degrees from Addis Ababa University in Human Resource and Organizational Development and a Ph.D. student at the University of South Africa in the field of Educational Leadership and Management under the supervision of Dr. Van Wyke. He is a pioneer in planning and maintaining KM services in the Ethiopian civil service environment.
His recent research activities include Initiate, coordinate, Leading and supervise a team of employees on more than 20 research projects of different practices and procedures, to ensure quality and efficiency in Ethiopian civil service organizations, coordinated and facilitated many proposal and research peer review workshops, research validity workshops and annual national workshops, Conducted numerous studies on knowledge management practices and prospects and other areas in the Context of federal and regional Civil service organizations, Lead Knowledge Management efforts and develop a comprehensive KM strategy of Ethiopian Management Institute and Public-Private Partnership office of Ministry of Finance, Due Process consultation and Recommend Knowledge Management framework and strategy for the implementation of knowledge management for Ethiopian water technology institute and Ethiopian electric utility, Design and deliver trainings and workshops on knowledge management, collaboration platforms, Knowledge Mapping, KM Assessments and community facilitation for federal civil service, Design knowledge management training module/material for the training of civil service officials and employees. Develop research-based meeting Gridline and Meeting training manuals for Civil service organizations.

Ashenafi serves as a secretary for the Research Review Committee, is on the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Finance, and is a regular consultant and trainer for government and non-government organizations.
