Economist, engineer, data scientist, sometime-traveller, and author.
I am a data scientist specialising in open data at Whythawk.com. I spent more than a decade in economic and development initiatives in South Africa before moving to the UK and becoming commercial lead of open data projects at the Open Knowledge Foundation. I delivered many of the world’s leading open data portals from the Americas to initiatives in Nigeria, Pakistan, Mauritius, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, as well as working with intergovernmental organisations like the World Bank and WHO. I developed the Sqwyre.com business intelligence platform for the UK, and am currently supporting post-COVID-19 economic planning and development with the UK government.
I also drink a great deal of coffee.
