All,
I am looking for a collaboration tool for internal company use that can:
Be limited to a specific group Be available on Blackberry Provide email alerts when a select set of criteria are met in a posting Permits entries via email, that is you can make an entry to the application from email, and don’t need to open it to post to it.
Thanks very much.

Yammer does 1, 2, and 4. Email alerts are available for groups, but not
on saved searches. I am looking for a collaboration tool for internal company use thatcan: 1. Be limited to a specific groupposting 4. Permits entries via email, that is you can make an entry to theapplication from email, and don't need to open it to post to it. |

Lynn, What are people using the tool to collaborate on? Is it the writing of documents? Is it just have conversations? Is it around projects? Does it need to integrate with other systems? On May 23, 2012, at 3:16 AM, "Wilson, Lynn (GE Capital)" <lynn.wilson@...> wrote:

Matt,
This is a small sales force. We want them to share information they glean from conferences, customer calls, etc. It’s not around projects per se but it could be. It’s not about writing or storing documents but sharing market intelligence.
It does need to “integrate” with Microsoft Outlook, the email system that we use, in the sense that they want to be able to use email to enter comments, so they don’t have to use another system for that purpose.
Thanks for your help with this.

I'm aligned with all other comments thus far. Although I believe Jive 6.0 has a new paradigmn worth investigating. In one of my client engagements, I've been working through a bid process for jive consultants and would be happy to share my feedback and experience. In terms of requirement #3, I believe in jive 5.0 that would be a customization that you would need to scope out. Hello Folks,
I'm interested in this topic and have spoken with and seen demos from a number of vendors, including Jive. I wonder if anyone has experience with SuccessFactors Jam or Newsgator (for use with SharePoint 2010)? Both of those looked very good for different reasons. Thanks, Susan Genden email: susan.genden@... sgenden@... Instructional Design Consultant at Ford Motor Company |

Susan, I may have missed your use case, but the answer is that it really depends on the use case, goals, charter, leadership, sponsorship and a myriad of other factors.
I recently had a demo of the SuccessFactors products as was underwhelmed with their 'view' of 'community'. Jobs2Web is how they view the world through this aquisition. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is their main customer who are helping them to 'define' their community requirements at this point. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish with newsgator, but certainly I like the notion of 'weaving' the social listening platforms together to foster social learning. I believe the bridging is the next big actvity we will start to see in the next 18 months. Kind Regards,

Susan, We have the NewsGator 2010 product installed here and it’s pretty good. We’ve compared to what Yammer, Chatter, Jive have and in some areas it’s better, in others it’s comparable and in a few areas it’s still lagging. We are upgrading to the 2.6 product this week, and later this summer should hopefully catch up to the latest release – which with each release the capabilities are getting better.

We have similar experiences with NewsGator on SharePoint as Accenture. We had Yammer running for a while but everyone has elected to move to NewsGator, it's where everything else was happening. In our case, our users picked.
