Does anyone have a good source/research they can point me to that shows salary ranges for KM leaders in different organizations?

Thanks, Stan! I have already Googled and done some research around KM salaries. I was hoping someone might have something with a little more research/clout behind it. I am specifically looking for salaries for senior-level KM experts/leaders coming into an organization as an experienced hire.

you might look around Glassdoor for salaries. One caution on any salary source. Salaries can vary quite a bit depending on metro area and industry, so national figures may not be overly useful. Living in Silicon Valley I'm certainly experiencing that.

This is a great question. One of the issues / concerns of being a leader in the KM space is that HR has a difficult time classifying the role. For example, working in the insurance industry there was a CIO (Innovation Officer) that led a broad KM practice. He was a C-level executive with 33 years of experience in the industry. His team was composed of a KM VP leading global IT (that was me). He also had AVP level and manager level staff representing areas of business and lines of business. Each of these people had a different level of experience. Reporting to the Senior VP / C-level were 3 VP levels and everyone else was lower. The (KM) part was essentially ignored relative to the cost center a person managed + operations. Basically, the bigger the budget you had, the more you made. In the consulting world, we all know that is different. If someone asked me about how much a KM consultant made, I would say "What kind of KM consultant"? If we look at Big Pharma, based on what I have seen so far is very focused on SME knowledge relative to a specific capability area (R&D, Discovery, etc) All that said, I would suggest there is no standard for KM itself. If there were a standard, it would most likely be level, title, cost center or RC. For example, if you manage a budget of 50m, probably will be paid more than 50k (a little humor there). It doesn't answer your question specifically (sorry for that) but I think the answer may be there is no answer. --Howie On Fri, May 25, 2018 at 6:03 PM, ken@... [sikmleaders] <sikmleaders@...> wrote:

Nick Milton (Knoco) is somewhat regularly checking the salaries for KMers. Maybe it's time for an update again, Nick. Nick Milton: The KM job market at end 2014.
