San Francisco Bay Area gathering and networking #SF-Bay-Area

Linda Nellett

Greetings, KMers!

I've been trying to meet other KM professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area who are interested in talking about ideas, experiences, and challenges. However, it appears that there is no formal or informal KM group in the area.

Today I met with Jeff Stemke to explore the idea of launching an SF Bay Area KM Group. We're thinking to start small and propose an initial gathering to be held after work hours in either San Francisco or East Bay in late September or early October.

If you're a KM professional in the San Francisco Bay Area, please let us know if you'd like to join us by responding to this thread or to me at lnellett@... by next Friday, September 7. Feel free to forward this message to others.

We'd also like to hear from you if you have idea or offer for a meeting venue (it should be free, if possible, for this first meeting) or if there are others you'd like us to invite who may not be part of the SIKM group.

We'll be posting more details about location and time once we have more insight into how many people will attend.

Many thanks,

Linda Nellett

Linda,
Thanks for reaching out!  I was just thinking the same thing as I saw Stan Garfield's roundup of the recent mid-west conference.

I'm based in Palo Alto, have been involved in KM for a while, spoken at KM World and on the SIKM forum, and also am on the adjunct faculty of the Information and Knowledge Strategy program at Columbia.

I'd love to get together with fellow KMers here in the Bay Area.   I'll think about a "free" venue for a first meetup.

Hi Linda!

I would love to join. I tried to start a small group in SF with Jeff Stemke and a few others but it didn't take off. Thanks for posting here and gathering more people.

Looking forward to it!

Hello - thanks for reaching out to set this up. I’d be interested in joining this group, and I may be able to offer a venue in Marin (San Rafael) at a local co-working space - need to find out about room availability on whatever date we decide on.

I have good availability end of September (after 9/20) into October - prefer M-Thurs (avoid Friday traffic!). East Bay or downtown SF work as well as Marin or points north of there.

Let me know if I can help with the venue. Thanks!
