The KM Collection - easier access to best content #resources #search #curation
I created The KM Collection to make it easier to find information on knowledge and collaboration. Please consider giving The KM Collection a try. I am looking for feedback on benefits of the collection for broad use by KM professionals and feedback on the capability itself. The collection is hosted on the Keeeb Intelligence Platform - a start-up I joined last Fall.

Hi Tom, Thanks for sharing. I don't think you've overstepped, but I appreciate the clear declaration of involvement. I've gone ahead and signed up, but there's an internal server error when I try to activate the account. :) Otherwise, I'm looking forward to trying it out. Tom, I signed up to check it out and got an error message, but I got in by clicking another link in the error message. I don't think that's how it should work, but I got in and will provide you feedback probably in the next week. Stan – do we have a way to have a breakout discussion that is limited to a subset of the community who volunteers to check out the KM Collection?
Aprill – a you asked a great question I had not considered. Let’s see if we can have a sub-discussion space. Tom

Hi Tom - Thanks for doing this and providing us the ability to interact with your company's application. I just registered and will dig into this. As others have reported, I did get an error when I clicked on the link that was emailed to me to validate my account, but I clicked on the link in the error message and it worked. Lee - Great to see that you have registered!
To everyone who creates an ID on the KM Collection – You may receive an odd message after activating your id. It starts with "We are sorry, this should not have happened…". If you see this, use the login link at the end of the message to login. The Keeeb team is working to correct this shortly.
Please send me an email at tom@... if you encounter any other login issues.
Thanks! Tom

I prefer open discussion to sub-discussions, so I agree with Murray. This is in keeping with the principles of transparency and Working Out Loud. Here are three suggestions for how to proceed:
|
|
Murray, Aprill, Stan – I am game for using the SIKM Forum for discussion on ideas and feedback on the KM Collection. Let’s do it.
Per Stan’s suggestion – I will consider using a wiki page or Google Doc as we go along. I’ll look to Aprill and Ivan (our initial community champions) for guidance as we go along. Aprill, Ivan – please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have suggestions on this conversation as we go along.

Tom - I'll look for the proper mechanism (Wiki page or whatever) to capture any more, but I just wanted to let you know that I just now made a few attempts at adding to the collection - I hope I did it correctly, but wanted you to know regardless. Specifically, I added "Content" within the people area to link to another of Stan's profiles in knowledge series just to see if I understood the user interface here. Then I added a new Page within Technologies for search and (so far) just one "Content" within there (which isn't necessarily all that useful as I was just, again, trying to understand things here). Thanks Lee – you got it!
I see your two collected items: Deloitte profile written by Stan and a Wikipedia post on enterprise search. Now that you have collected these items, they will be easier for other KM Collection members to find while using Google (if they have the Discovery extension installed)
Regarding the enterprise search post – I think you collected by typing “Enterprise Search” in the new item. This works. If you had only typed the URL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise_search) Keeeb would have collected the content of the full target page. Doing this would give Discovery more meat to search on. I think your approach should have yielded the same result as mine – I have created an enhancement request for Keeeb. Here is a link to the search page you created with both items (only accessible by those who have registered)
Thanks for giving the KM Collection a try!
BTW – I haven’t decided yet on the wiki/Google Docs approach. Will keep the ideas/discussions in the main forum for now.

Hi Tom,
I've had a bit of a play. Added a new topic to the KM collection, and a couple of bookmarks as content. I've also added personal bookmarks etc. Content items have a small circle in the top right corner of the tile... will that have a purpose? I assumed it was a tick-box sort of thing, but it seems to be superfluous. Re the discovery - I did a search for "workshop activities" and found a great thread started by Nicky a million years ago. Love that! Do we have a way to train the search to improve relevance or is that happening without our direct input? thanks! -- Aprill Allen Founder and Managing Director | Knowledge Bird KM Consulting & KCS Training M: +61 (0)400 101 961 knowledgebird.com |

Hello Aprill
The small circle, on the top right corner of a Keeeb item, when clicked causes a bar to appear on the bottom of the screen with some editing options. Those editing options apply to all the items you have selected.
In the short term, Discovery search will improve as we collect more content. It can also improve if we decided to add/remove content sources from scope (let me know if you have one you’d like to add).
In the longer term, Keeeb is working on analytic approaches to improve Discovery search quality. For example, evaluate queries and dynamically adjust the weighting of the sources for each query. We are just getting started on that and other ideas to improve search quality. Our CTO, Sid Probstein was the CTO for Fast Search (back in the day) and more recently the same role for Attivio – he is ramping up our attention on approaches to improve search.
