Intranet Consultants? #intranet #consulting

Hi. Our IT team are considering an update of our intranet, and wondered who would be good to talk to to get a feel for the state of the art?
The word "intranet" conjures up stale publishing pages, but a modern intranet is probably deeply linked into tools such as Teams etc to achieve more interesting and alive governance.  
Does anyone have recommendations of folks to talk to, who can help shape a brief?

John Hovell for knowledge retention, organizational transformation, etc
Kurt Kragh Sorensen will know more on tools and integrations

More challenging response would be to drive the new Intranet from your organization's demand and not the IT team's desire to update it.
Internal users / customers could teach you a lot about their expectations from a new intranet as well.

ClearBox have a good list of intranet (and intranet-ish) applications documented, and they do consulting as well on this.

I've used SharePoint to build out our intranet and knowledge management base. The new SharePoint online is so easy to use and they have stunning templates to get you started. 
Take a look at their lookbook for inspiration https://lookbook.microsoft.com/

We now surface knowledge that is needed by the individuals with a much better interface and look and feel than ever before

Hi Rory,

The first question is which generation does your present intranet belong to? First generation - brochure ware, second - partly process orientated or third process savvy.
The second question is who is the owner? Communications, IT or business
And the third question: where you want to end up with the update.

Only then the technology will play a role.

SharePoint is a pretty easy to use extranet. If you set it up properly from the start, then it's a good  km tool. Takes time though and architecture design.

I agree with Bart to speak with the end-users. At the end the intranet is useful only if it is used and it is the personification of people's work (the IT team is just a facilitator here). I am pretty sure you will discover what they want and need.

Hi there,
I'm happy to offer perspectives and ideas - not trying to sell my services, but I've had experience in large scale intranet transitions at Cisco, Western Digital, Intuit....so pick my brain.

My work has focused on end user adoption, business process use case identification and integration, leadership change in support of intranet, communications, planning, change design, evaluating and remediating poorly executed intranet change programs.

This blog post is a few years old, but conceptually it is still useful in planning intranet change

Getting the tech and business change teams working together from the get-go is vital.

Just finished a SharePoint/Teams rollout at a small company with very little prior experience in end user cloud/collaboration...a different kettle of fish from the earlier work in larger companies.
