Free Learning Resources #video #resources
Hello SIKM Leaders,
In addition to sharing the support material for my SIKM Leaders session with you on Monday, I thought it would be useful share my YouTube free resources channel: "Instant Insights". Instant Insights is series of short "Conversation Starters" designed to stimulate positive engagement between people, by sharing their thoughts on a range of important concepts. The aim is to build relationships between participants by triggering cocreation of new knowledge and social value through these "Collaborative Conversation Spirals". The videos are all in a free open channel on YouTube for anyone to use as resources. Enjoy! The whole channel (26 2-4 min videos): OrgZoo Culture, Leadership & Behaviour Insights - YouTube https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqsNgzJnPotjBhDeLlScZrflDM4n-W1f An introductory video on Instant Insights Conversation Starters: See you at 4 PM Monday (Eastern USA time). Love these videos, Arthur - thank you for the pointer/link to the YT channel. Great idea having a collection of these bite-sized video nuggets for people to dive into. I especially liked the one about the difference between leadership and management - first time I've seen it positioned that way, and very much appreciate the simple elegance of your explanation. Looking forward to the conversation on Monday. Tom Short Consulting All of my previous SIKM Posts |

Hi Tom,
Thank you for your kind feedback. As I slip into “retirement” (whatever that is), I feel that it would be such a shame for all this tacit knowledge and experiences in my head to simply gather dust. Sharing the concepts/insights for others to converse over, and ideally develop further, is a way to passively contribute to the learning and development of new knowledge in future (even if I am unaware of how this happens). This is the most important lesson I learnt for Stan as a role model of genuine sharing and collaboration.
Many years ago I asked the participants at a KM conference in Singapore “Why do KMers treat knowledge like a prisoner?” Capturing and locking it away to “protect” it. I suggested it is better to release it to grow and generate new knowledge and insights through conversations and what I termed “Creative Friction (constructive arguments to include a range of differing perspectives (the topic of one of the videos). I know from decades of facilitating learning conversations that a short prompter to include people in a conversation stimulates far better learning outcomes and generate new knowledge and connection between people, better than traditional teaching styles. This is why I hope that learning facilitators (which is a BIG part of KM) can use these to help their practices and why all of my recent academic writing is in open journals.
Please feel free to ask anything and share any benefits you get from these, so that others are encouraged to use them too. Thanks (see you tomorrow on the SIKM Leaders Zoom call). A
